Valleys carry more water than any other part of a roof, which makes them a common leak point. Leaves block them, and older galvanised valley irons eventually rust through.
We clear blocked valleys, reseal valley edges and replace rusted valley irons with new metal. Replacing a rusted valley is a straightforward job that stops a recurring leak for good.
Ridge caps sit on a bed of mortar and are sealed with pointing. Over time, sun and movement crack the pointing, and on older roofs the bedding underneath breaks down too. That's when ridge caps loosen and water gets in along the ridges and hips.
Where only the top layer has failed, we repoint with flexible pointing that moves with the roof. Where the bedding has crumbled, we lift the caps, rebed them and repoint. Either way, the caps end up secure and sealed.
Paint can only bond to a clean surface. Dirt, lichen and loose material left on the tiles cause coatings to peel early.
That's why every restoration starts with a high pressure clean. We work methodically so water is directed away from gaps and into the gutters.
